Governorship
Most outsiders think of "THE
CHURCH" as a place worship in the community. Indeed it is but "THE
CHURCH" is also the phrase used to describe the people that belong to
the Church, the activities of the Church and everything that we do as a
group of Christians.
Many Church activities take place away from the
visible building in the centre of the village. There are many home
meetings and other gatherings that are every bit a part of the church in
Staincross.
The organisation of Staincross Methodist Church is as follows:-
The Church is part of the Barnsley Methodist Circuit in the Sheffield District. That's being partners with thousands of other people throughout the town, county and beyond. It means being a part of every other Methodist Church in the world too.
The Governing body of the Staincross Methodist Church is THE CHURCH COUNCIL which is made up from elected members of the congregation.
Day to day overseeing of Church life is performed by a group of STEWARDS, who are responsible to, and also members of, the Church Council.
The chair of the Church Council is the MINISTER.
There are a number of sub-committees from the Church Council to look
after different areas of the Church.
for example the Church building
is looked after by the PROPERTY COMMITTEE. They look after the
upkeep of the building and look after room bookings etc. Staincross has
some great modern facilities which are available to the wider community.
Head of the property committee is
Roy Andrews.
Missions, Outreach, Finance, Worship, Young people, Pastoral care, and other subjects are also looked after by committees. A Steward will be able to guide you to the relevant committee.
CONCERNS
If you have any concerns about any aspect of Staincross Methodist Church you may contact a Steward, the Minister, or the "named persons" in the complaints procedure.
The Named Persons look after discipline in the Sheffield District and their contact details and the complaints procedure are clearly displayed on the main notice board in the main foyer.
